Introduced in 2001 and slowly gaining in popularity, TRIVEX is a derivative of next generation polymers originally developed for the US Military.  Trivex surpasses the traditional "featherweight" polycarbonate safety lens material, in three important areas - weight, durability and optics.  Lenses made from Trivex are ultra-light in weight, much more resistant to cracking and breaking and have better optics than polycarbonate thanks to much better control of chromatic aberrations.

The only negative to Trivex versus polycarbonate is the lower index of refraction (1.53 vs 1.58) which means Trivex lenses will be slightly thicker than polycarbonate.  The ideal prescription range for Trivex is +3 Dioptre to -3 Dioptre.  Trivex is available in single vision, bifocal and digital free-form progressive.
